It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Now that I’ve got that annoying song in your head, let us rejoice that it’s the middle of March which is the most busiest time in Austin.  With the Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards, and the South by South West Film and Music festivals there is never a shortage of celebrity sightings. The Hall of Fame awards took place on March 12 and for $500 you could have mingled with the likes of Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Brendan Fraser, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, and a handful of Friday Night Lights stars.  Billy Bob Thornton was given the Honorary Texas Award which I’m sure he was given because of his convincing role of Tennessee native Davy Crockett in The Alamo.

There have also been a couple of higher profile stars in the city to attend screenings of their films at sxsw.  I Love You Man brought Paul Rudd, (or how I refer to him in my head - Crap Bag) Jon Favreau, Jason Segal, Jamie Pressly and Rashida Jones to town.  The movie is about a character who goes on a series of man dates to find a new best friend.  Sounds like a gooder.  Another big premiere was the film Exterminators which stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge, and Amber (great name) Heard. The film is about ladies exterminating (get it, Ex. Terminators. Oh puns.) bad men from other peoples lives.  A Reason to not see the movie:  I for one, can’t stand Heather Graham, and am 99% certain that I have never enjoyed any film she has been in.  A Reason to see the movie:  It was shot in Austin.  It’s always fun to recognize various locations in and around town up on the big screen. Happy swsw-ing!
