Champions are the breakfast of Chuck Norris

I know I’m a little bit late reporting on this, but I couldn’t let this little piece of news slip through the cracks.  Walker, the Texas Ranger himself touched down in Pflugerville for the opening of his KickStart program at a local school. And while I think the program is a great idea, it’s an alternative to PE which promotes the avoidance of gangs, and drug free lifestyles, I’m not really keen on the cost of getting Mr. Norris to speak at the school.  Because of his demanding schedule and erratic filming schedule Chuck does not consider appearing at any event without a $75,000 donation. At least he is not pocketing this money, but still, the asking price could be a little lower.  Oh who am I kidding, it’s CHUCK NORRIS, he once visited the Virgin Islands. They are now The Islands.

It’s All About ME

I have been frequenting Mother Egans Trivia Tuesdays for the last two years and I always say to myself ‘I could totally write the trivia questions.’  Well I finally got my chance, albeit it was only one round out of the seven.  I wrote an Austin celebrity themed round for the pub, with the winners of that particular round winning Austin Star Maps.  The general consensus was that my questions were too hard.  Well that just sounds like loser talk to me.  Of course, I might have a biased opinion seeing as how I wrote them AND knew the answers.  I’ll make sure to dumb it down next time I whip up a set of ten questions.  To partake in the Trivia madness make sure you hit up Mother Egans on sixth.  Trivia starts at 7:30pm every Tuesday.

The Endorser

Everybody wants a piece of Michael Phelps, including myself.  It seems that PureSport, a sports drink based in Austin, had the right idea – Get a piece of Phelps before he demolishes all type of Olympic Records and has big name Corporate sponsors knocking down his door. Michael and teammates Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Ian Crocker all signed on to endorse the Austin startup company last year.  And now thanks to the Golden boy, the energy drink has become quite popular.  Of course PureSport has used Michael’s star status to hock their drink plastering his face all over packaging. They also are lucky enough to get Michael seven days out of the year to which, according to CEO Michael Humphrey, ‘We book the hell out of him.
